Lent 2026
February 18th - April 2nd
What is Lent all about?
Lent is season of time marked in the Christian calendar which observes the 6 weeks days leading up to Easter. Lent begins on what is known as Ash Wednesday and culminates on Maundy Thursday of Holy Week, or Thursday the week of Easter (the day before Good Friday). This year, Lent takes place from February 18th until April 2nd.
At UCC we encourage you to intentionally set aside time for reading and meditating on Scripture, prayer, and fasting during the season of Lent. We also encourage you to discuss lent in your life groups, and learn about different ways of engaging in this season as a community, being joined together and being built up by fasting and prayer.
A common practice for the lenten season to fast – traditionally from food, but sometimes also from perhaps entertainment services phone use etc. – specifically for the purpose of consecrating more time spent intentionally with Jesus.
To that end, we have put together this small resource page with some articles, ideas, and recommendations for how to explore and engage with this season of Lent.
Bible & Books
Lent is the season that focuses on the last days of Jesus’ ministry leading up to his crucifixion; here are a few readings plan we like that can help you follow that journey to the cross during season.
