To give you a glimpse of what you can expect at United Community Church, we have put together answers to some commonly asked questions about the church that will help you understand what UCC is like week to week and hopefully address issues important to you.
What Kind of Church Are You?
We are an Independent, (autonomous congregation), Evangelical (Christ-centered, Gospel-focused, Bible-based congregation) Nondenominational (we are comprised of people from many different denominational backgrounds and are not officially linked to one). We are an English speaking church that welcomes both Finns and foreigners to attend.
Who Attends United Community Church?
At UCC you will find people of different ethnicities, backgrounds, and professions, people from Finland and people from all over the world. Spiritually speaking, you will encounter people who are all in different places in their spiritual journey.
What if I don’t normally go to church? What if I’m not a believer?
Anybody is welcome to visit UCC. There are many people in our church for whom the church experience is new. We seek to create a welcoming environment for those who are curious about God, but have never felt comfortable in church.
What are Sunday services like?
On Sundays we follow a basic pattern of meeting together for 1 hour 30 minutes. We teach directly from the Bible usually going through a book of the Bible. We pray, sing and reflect. We respond by taking communion together on monthly basis. (See Locations > Espoo / Helsinki.)
Do you have small groups?
We provide the opportunity to be involved in mid-week small groups. Small groups generally meet in homes around the Capital area in groups of about 6-14 people to study the Bible, pray, share a meal, and share life. (See Ministries > Small groups.)
Do you have Bible studies?
Our Bible studies happen in several ministries, mostly in small groups, men’s breakfasts and in different ladies’ ministries. (See Ministries > Small groups / Mens / Ladies.)
Do you have Sunday School?
UCC Church aims to be a family-friendly environment. We believe that children are a gift from God and should be taught about God and his plan for the world. Currently we offer Sunday school at our 10:00 service in Leppävaara, Espoo. We also provide a teaching environment for teens. (See Ministries > Children / Youth / Teens.)
Do you have services in Finnish?
No we do not have services in Finnish although many Finns attend our services. As an English speaking church we welcome both Finns and international people living in Finland to attend our church. If you would like assistance in finding a Finnish speaking church in the capital area send us an email: contact(at)ucclife.fi
